Jangan beli HP Pavilion tx1209au jika anda belum siap untuk menggunakan Windows Vista.
Laptop dengan spec, anyar ini hanya disiapkan untuk Windows Vista. Driver-driver yang ada cuma buat Vista, everything about Vista.. dan amat tidak direkomendasiin untuk didown-grade.
Gue udah nyoba beberapa kali untuk down-grade dan benar saja, drivernya sulit sekali didapat, baik itu langsung ke vendor hardware maupun ke website hp itu sendiri. Nyebelin sekali..!!
Berikut ini petikan dari HP tentang laptop mereka yang dibundle sama Vista dan mau didowngrade sama Windows XP..
Issues you will experience if you downgrade from Vista to XP
If you have an HP Pavilion or Compaq Presario consumer notebook PC that shipped with Windows Vista, you should not attempt to downgrade to Windows XP. Changing the operating system will cause severe operational problems. Many of the components, such as sound, video, graphics, network connectivity, drives, or other devices and peripherals, may have limited functionality, or may not work at all. You should do some research on the support policies of hardware and software manufacturers, and review the problems experienced by other users, before you consider changing the operating system.
You may experience the following conditions if you downgrade an HP Pavilion or Compaq Presario consumer notebook, which was designed for Vista, to an older operating system:
- HP does not provide Windows XP compatible drivers for functions such as sound, video, graphics, network connectivity, drives, or other devices and peripherals for these consumer notebooks.
- Changing the operating system voids your warranty until such time as you restore Windows Vista to your machine. Before providing phone or online support, or performing hardware services, HP technical support will require you to reinstall the version of the Windows operating system that shipped with your computer.
- Some component manufacturers do not provide Windows XP compatible drivers for components that they designed for Windows Vista.
- Even if a third-party company or Windows itself can provide generic drivers that will allow all your devices to operate, the performance of your HP PC may be less than optimal.
If you decide to downgrade your PC from Vista to XP, in spite of the known hardware and software problems, or if you have already tried to make the change and your PC does not work properly, read the other sections of this document. There is also a section that discusses the consequences of setting up a dual-boot system.

Umm…. isn’t replacing Vista with *any* OS an upgrade? I’m trying to deal with a 1209 now; StarHub was giving them away as enticements for you to take a long-term Internet contract. It ships with Vista and is clearly ‘bleeding edge’; not all the drivers are stable; it’s infested with Norton extortionware (that can’t be fully uninstalled/replaced with a better solution such as AVG), yadda yadda. Worst of all on the hardware side, it has a Broadcom BCM4312 WLAN chip, which delivers mediocre performance in Vista and is completely unable to work with any other OS.
I’ve tried three different Linux distributions so far; they all choke on the Broadcom chip. So I went and bought a PC Card WLAN adapter that works just fine. Since I’m unlikely to need the slot for anything else on a regular basis, that works for me.
What DOESN’T work for me is that you CANNOT make this POS into a dual-boot system with Vista. When you boot into Vista after resizing the partition and installing Linux, it ‘helpfully’ offers to restore your initial disk image from the recovery partition/CDs, and WILL NOT let you just go into Windows like normal. The ‘recovery’, of course, eliminates the Linux partition(s), leaving you with a large, everything-goes-in-the-same-drive C: partition. Blech.
This thing has already cost me more (in the value of my time) than the full retail list price for the thing. I’m getting ready to just say ‘phuc it’ and give the thing to an unsuspecting neighbour/relative/enemy who still drinks the Microsoft purple Kool-Aid. It’s a nice idea; certainly reading the feature list (LightScribe, touch screen, etc.) makes you think ‘wow, this is a really cool system’… but beware. It is, after all, an HP, not even an assimilated Compaq. That means, of course, that you’re dealing with the Henry Ford school of customer support. A century ago, you could have any colour you wanted, as long as it was black. Now, you can have any OS you want, as long as it’s Vista. At least black paint didn’t actively degrade the performance of the automobile. A PC infested with Vista, sadly, can not make a comparable claim.

Just install it one by one, and I’m pretty sure your computer will working nicely with Windows XP :)

site lo hit nomer atu di google waktu gw nyari driver buat laptop ini. Gw lagi bingung kenapa memory card reader gw ga bisa baca MC… stiap kali gw masukin pasti minta format… sedangkan di laptop temen/orang lain, baik2 aja tuh. Kira2 lu bisa bantu ga di??
Gw sekarang pake Updatestar yang bisa ditemuin di updatestar.com.
Satu lagi nih, di windows update, ada updatan buat Broadcom WiFi, tapi ga bisa diinstall.. punya reference ga di, kenapa inih?
